Governor’s Proposed Funding Cut Abandons Low-Income Residents In Need of Civil Legal Assistance
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has slashed funding for the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation (IEJF), which is housed in the Attorney General’s budget, from a proposed $5 million to $2 million, a draconian cutback which will deprive tens of thousands of low-income Illinois residents of urgently needed legal aid services.
